Your dashboard
Every NDF you own, grouped by species programme under its banner. Find anything fast and act on many at once.
- Search by name, filter by Draft / Locked, and sort any column by clicking its header
- Flip the Draft/Locked switch to finalise an NDF — locked NDFs become read-only for your team
- Select several NDFs to assign, archive or move to trash in one go
- Archive keeps finished NDFs out of the way; Trash holds deleted ones for 90 days before purge
Start an NDF
One button, two ways in: begin from a blank question set, or from a prefilled template where the species science is already in place.
- Choose the species group, then a blank or prefilled starting point
- Prefilled templates carry biology, stock context and citations — you add the national parts
- Copy an existing NDF to reuse your own work for a similar assessment
Fill in the NDF
Six guided steps, from preliminary considerations to recommendations — each with its own colour. Answers save automatically as you type.
- Rich-text answers with highlight, super/subscript, links — and one-click formatted references from a DOI
- Guidance on every question via the ? help buttons
- Attach PDF evidence to any question, plus NDF-level supporting documents
- Scores roll up live into colour-coded summaries as you answer
Reference library
The science you need sits beside the form, in a panel that slides in from the right — no tab-hopping to look up assessments and traits.
- IUCN Red List: global and regional assessments for your species
- Sharkipedia: life-history traits (age, size, fecundity, growth) with sources
- Species+/CITES: listings, quotas and distribution
- Questions with matching data show a Reference flag that opens the panel at the right row
Add your team
Administrators invite the colleagues who'll contribute — each gets their own login with access only to what you share.
- Invite a user by name and email — they receive a branded set-password link
- Fix a typo'd address or resend the invitation straight from the Users page
- End users only ever see the NDFs you assign to them
Assign the work
Split one NDF across your team: hand out whole steps, single sections, or individual questions.
- Tick exactly what each person may edit — everything else they see read-only, so context is never lost
- Grant view-only access for reviewers
- Assign several NDFs to someone at once from the dashboard
Work together
The conversation happens on the question itself — not in a separate email thread.
- Ask for help on any question; direct it to specific people or your whole team
- A global inbox collects threads awaiting your reply
- Edits by teammates appear live while you're on the same NDF
- Administrators can view the change history of any answer
Results & export
Step 5 turns your answers into a scored recommendation, ready to review, lock and hand over.
- The recommendation is computed from your Step 1–4 scores, with the score range shown
- Preview the whole NDF on screen, or export a formatted Word document
- Download a ZIP bundling the document with every attached PDF
- Lock the finished NDF — it stays readable but can no longer be edited by the team
Shared templates
Turn a finished NDF into a prefilled starting point for other authorities working on the same species.
- Share any of your NDFs as a template candidate — your original stays untouched
- A master administrator reviews and approves each submission
- Approved templates appear in everyone's "New NDF" chooser, science pre-completed
